About the channel
What it is
First the Blade is a new YouTube channel of short films and plain talks on the Bible. They set it out one step at a time, from its first principles to its deepest truths, for any Christian and for anyone who will come and see.
Nothing is published yet. The first films are being made now.
The name
The name comes from a parable Jesus told:
And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
Faith grows that way too: first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn. The films and talks are made to follow that order, a little and then a little more.
How they are made
The films are told in cut paper, with a small cast of characters who return from film to film. The talks are given simply, as to a friend across the table.
Every verse is quoted from the King James Version. Where a film draws on other writers, its description and credits name them.
